Capricorn Norge AS (Capricorn) has been given consent for exploration drilling in block 6608/11 in the Norwegian Sea.

The consent applies to the drilling of exploration well 6608/11-9 in a prospect named Godalen. The well belongs to production licence 842, for which Capricorn is the operator.

The geographical coordinates are:

  • 66° 02’ 54.07” N
  • 08° 22’ 34.16” E

Water depth at the site is 379 metres.

Well 6608/11-9 is to be drilled by Transocean Arctic, which is a semi-submersible mobile drilling facility of the Marosso 56 type, built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Japan in 1987. It is classified by DNV GL and registered in the Marshall Islands.

The facility is owned by Transocean Ltd, and received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) from the PSA in July 2004.
