Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Kazuhisa Nakano) announced today that its subsidiary,  Idemitsu Cuu Long Petroleum Co., Ltd. informs that it commenced the commercial production from the Nam Rong – Doi Moi oil field (the NR-DM oil field) offshore Vietnam from 25th February 2010.

The NR-DM oil field is located in the block 09-3, of which 15% of the license was awarded to Idemitsu in February 2002 by the government of Vietnam, and at around 135km off shore due south east of Vung Tau city in southern Vietnam.

The oil field extends across the adjacent block 09-1 and has been developed jointly by the blocks 09-3 and 09-1 licensers after the commercial discovery declaration in December 2007. The expected production rate of the Nam Rong – Doi Moi oil field is about 20,000 barrel per day (Idemitsu’s portion after the unitization of the blocks 09-3 and 09-1 is about 1,500 barrel per day).
