The Chairman of the Board of KazMunayGas JSC (KMG) Magzum Myrzagaliyev held a meeting with the delegation led by the Chairman of the Board of Glencore Alex Sanna in Astana.

During the meeting, the parties discussed promising areas of cooperation and the possibility of implementing joint investment projects.

The head of KMG noted that, taking into account the development of new technologies and measures to regulate the climate sector, the company is further studying the possibility of introducing decarbonization and "green" projects, and in the future it is possible to establish bilateral relations in this direction.

Also, the delegation of Glencore was told about the development of the petrochemical industry. For example, last year, the Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries (KPI) plant with an annual design capacity of 500,000 tons of polypropylene was launched in Atyrau.

The parties also discussed issues of oil trading and oil refining. M. Myrzagaliyev noted that a number of initiatives aimed at increasing operational efficiency at the expense of increasing marginal product production at three oil refineries owned by KMG are planned.
