ERG has completed construction and has started energising the Partinico-Monreale wind farm in Palermo, the first in the group's portfolio to complete repowering operations.

Following the replacement of all obsolete turbines with new ones of the latest generation, the wind farm now has 10 4.2 MW VESTAS V132 turbines with a total installed capacity of 42 MW (compared to the previous 19 turbines for a total of 16 MW) and an estimated annual production of 94 GWh (compared to the previous 27 GWh).

75% of the electricity produced by the plant will be sold through a 12-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) signed with Luxottica during the first quarter of 2023 for the supply of approximately 900 GWh of clean energy in the period 2023-2034.

Paolo Merli, Chief Executive Officer of ERG, commented: “We are particularly satisfied with the start-up of Partinico-Monreale, the first repowered wind farm. This will significantly increase the visibility of the 2022-2026 Business Plan, which includes similar renewal interventions on approximately 15 plants in Italy located in particularly windy areas. Overall, it involves 850MW of new capacity equipped with state-of-the-art turbines, generating over 2 TWh of energy per year, three times more than current setups, while occupying the same amount of land. One billion euros of investments, confirming ERG's commitment to energy transition in our country.”
