Eni, co-operator of the Karachaganak field along with the BG Group, announces the start-up of the new oil treatment and gas injection centre of the giant Karachaganak field, located in north-west Kazakhstan. On 10 June 2004, the first 89,000 tonnes of Eni equity crude were loaded at the Novorossiysk terminal on the Black Sea.

4.3 billion dollars were invested in the construction of the facilities at Karachaganak and up to 20,000 people were involved in the project. Kazakh companies and local human resources deployed for the project drew on 1.3 billion dollars of the total investment.
